"Unfit For Service" - The phrase that inspired the creation of Minister Fitness and the Kingdom Fitness Academy
I don't remember much else about the letter I received from the Secratary of the Air Force. That short phrase was a declaration that exploded my life and had a deep negative impact on much of my adult timeline.
I attended the US Air Force Academy from 1990-1994, and I attended the USAFA Preparatory School before that. instead of graduation, my journey ended with my resignation pending a decision from the Secretary of the Air Force.
The same time my classmates were marching to graduation, I was driving out of the North gate, headed to Florida - a place I hadn't been since my stepfather died; a place I hadn't lived in over eight years.
The emotional pain I felt from those three words is what I remember the most. i don't want that pain for anyone.
Minister Fitness is birthed from that pain.
I was declared "unfit for service" once and the pain from that experience is what I used to think about how could I help people avoida similar declaration.
New International Version (NIV)
They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.
One day, I stumbled upon and read Dave Stewart's article, "How to Select F.I.T. Leaders", and I was immediately inspired to create Minister Fitness, using the same "F.I.T." acronym.
